CURRICULUM
Our loving and caring team of teachers create an environment that encourages and develops a love of learning, respect, cooperation, leadership, an ability to make choices, pride in individual accomplishments and problem solving skills. Our goal is to promote learning through the joy of discovery. Children, supported by our staff, are constantly thinking, exploring, experiencing, learning and testing new skills. We want your child’s first school experience to be the best foundation for many learning years to come. As children grow and develop at NNS, they are both nurtured and challenged as they move towards the greater independence that kindergarten and elementary school brings.
Unique to NNS is a space we call “the middle room” which offers a time during our day for children from each classroom to connect and play together. This multi age experience offers opportunity for leadership, stimulates growth and development, boosts self esteem and builds confidence.
Our curriculum is built on a solid foundation of brain research showing that young children learn through play. According to The American Academy of Pediatrics:
“Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important to healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them. Play allows children to create and explore a world they can master, conquering their fears while practicing adult roles, sometimes in conjunction with other children or adult caregivers.”
